what is art? Where is the creativity? What is painting? different questions, and more difficult to name even to define. So I just think it is necessary to create the risk, but not only that. Something is happening to me ... I have been gradually abandoning the need to represent a reality, (a landscape, say, visible), in order to build scenes that are held by themselves ... posing new languages, from a more abstract view, generic ...
The dilemma has been: moving, daring to propose as well go back, hesitate, and go forward ...
Here the painting "Citypuzzle" finally finished. My main areas are: urban, everyday life, routines ... as from small details succeeds in capturing something much more universal ...

Painting comes back against death
Right. Many have seen in our metro Moneda paintings Guillermo Muñoz-Vera, Chilean painter based in Spain, representing the new realism, upward trend in this country and in Europe. And what becomes fashionable there, irradiated and then comes the rest of the world, and also here. How long will it take? Before it was years ago ... today with the Internet and globalization, things are updated much more rushed ... when? The arrival is imminent ... and this good since the painting is valued again and regain his throne ...

recent years has imposed conceptual art, which, with strategies and employment policies has been taking over different spaces art (galleries, museums, contests ...), and has used the strategy to move to survive, cover and suffocate to highlight ... and in my opinion that has caused great damage to Chilean painting. Why can not coexist? This is true in many parts of the world but not here. Is it part of our character?
Until now, to win competitions, the focus is on experimentation, the use of other materials and languages, above all, beyond the quality .... Forget about winning a contest if you paint with oils or acrylics on canvas ...

spring is coming and new momentum kicking in our blood. Punto G "sex force" is an exhibition in the workshop 56 (taller56.cl) by painter Francisco Alvarez and Nelson Olate. We support these initiatives (new spaces cultural) visiting the exhibition in Isabel Riquelme No 2, Barrio Bellavista, Santiago.
